TheGamingExperience: DarkSpore review

Posted on  May 20, 2011 10:17 PM By  Maxis

"Darkspore is a fairly fast Action-RPG game that can feel very hack-and-slashy at times, in a good way. It’s almost Pokemon-esque in that you collect new heroes as your Crogenitor level increases. As you unlock heroes you can customize their looks (and stats) by giving them items and changing their colors, skin tones, weapon size, body part size, etc, etc. The hero editor is EXTREMELY in depth and based off the Spore editor. Many of the items you place onto the heroes you can change exactly where it actually shows up visually, thus making no two characters similar." - socio of thegamingexperience.com

Darkspore review at Everyday Gamers

"All told, Darkspore definitely exceeded my expectations, and I am anxiously awaiting the announcement of any available DLC containing new locations/heroes. The games addictiveness will keep you glued to your seat long enough to grow your own spores.  If you are looking for a change of pace, from the normal fantasy universe, dungeon-crawler, then Darkspore is the perfect addition to any PC gamer’s library." - Chris Maeurer of Everyday Gamers

G4: Darkspore Review - PC

"Darkspore is the perfect bite of top-down action-RPG fun from Maxis Software and Electronic Arts. It manages to marry aspects of combat and collection with customization in a unique way that its spiritual predecessor, Spore, was never to able to do. On top of that, Darkspore offers a healthy amount of encouraging replayability and cooperation (or competition) with others. For those thirsting for their Diablo fix, you're in luck."
